Rotations
In their first year, students rotate through three potential thesis laboratories. The rotations give them the opportunity to try out a lab, to find a mentor, and embed themselves in a research question. In addition it gives students a broad overview of experimental approaches to neuroscience, and provides them with a network of scientists whose expertise they can draw upon in the future. There are over 80 laboratories participating in the Neuroscience Program and research areas span from protein structure and function, to cellular physiology, to disease and to brain imaging.
